Looking for a stable job in the national transport sector? Tracking the latest PRASA Careers is a highly practical move. The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) is the state-owned entity responsible for moving millions of commuters across the country every single day. From the busy Metrail routes in Gauteng and the Western Cape to the long-distance Shosholoza Meyl, they are the backbone of South Africa’s public transit system.

Right now, PRASA is going through a massive modernization phase. They are actively replacing aging train sets with new, high-tech blue trains (the “People’s Trains”) and upgrading their signaling infrastructure. Because of this massive national rebuild, their hiring demands have shifted. They still need traditional train drivers and ticket examiners, but they are now heavily recruiting specialized signaling engineers, modern fleet maintenance artisans, and thousands of dedicated protection officers to secure the railway lines against cable theft and vandalism.
